Archdiocese of Louisville commits $10 million to tuition assistance
The Catholic Education Foundation of Louisville has announced a five-year, $10 million commitment from the Archdiocese of Louisville in support of tuition assistance for Catholic school students.
The pledge includes a continuation of annual funding currently in place — 1 percent of total revenue from the hundred and ten parishes in the archdiocese, which comes to $1.3 million, and another $500,000 through the Catholic Services Appeal for Catholic high schools in central Kentucky — and a $1 million gift to the foundation's endowment. Last fall, the foundation and its funding partners, including the Archdiocese of Louisville, awarded a record $6.5 million in tuition assistance to 3,350 students enrolled in thirty-nine Catholic elementary schools.
"The Catholic Education Foundation's growing impact on families and our community is resounding and I couldn't be more proud to be a part of this great mission," said Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz, who also serves as the foundation's board vice chair. "This new commitment by all my fellow priests speaks to our steadfast belief in Catholic education and its importance in shaping the lives of young students and their families. We are deeply committed to making this life-changing experience accessible to everyone!"
"The future of Catholic education in the Archdiocese of Louisville is so promising for families who want this pathway for their children," said Mary Beth Bowling, superintendent of schools for the Archdiocese of Louisville. "And this commitment creates a renewed sense of mission to provide the best spiritual, academic, and extracurricular experience to our students and their families."
