Asolo Repertory Theatre receives $1 million bequest

The Asolo Repertory Theatre in Sarasota, Florida, has announced a $1 million gift from the estate of Mary Jo (Jody) Reston to launch the second phase of the theatre’s capital campaign.

The campaign will address expansion of the Robert and Beverly Koski Production Center, including construction of a new art costume storage facility—named after Reston—which will catalog and preserve historical costumes, ensuring their availability for future productions. A longtime supporter of the theatre, Reston retired to Sarasota in 1999 after a 25-year career in Martha’s Vineyard as publisher of The Vineyard Gazette.

“It’s an incredible gift, and yet another testament to the generosity in this community,” said Asolo Repertory Theatre managing director Ross Egan. “Jody’s gift has already made a tremendous impact on Asolo Rep. We are beyond grateful that she chose to support our work. With this gift, we are one step closer to the completion of our costume storage facilities and costume shop.”
