Barancik Foundation awards $5.2 million across Sarasota region
 
            
    
    
                   
					The Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation in Sarasota, Florida, has announced grants totaling $5.2 million to assist vulnerable families and expand arts and cultural programming across the region.
Awarded across the foundation’s five impact areas of economic stability, education access and quality, healthcare access and quality, social and community well-being, and neighborhood and environment, the grants include support for Second Heart Homes, which was awarded $650,000 to expand supportive housing for homeless adults with mental illnesses; Take Stock in Children of Sarasota County, which will receive $400,000 to help economically disadvantaged students enroll and succeed in postsecondary education; Safe Children Coalition, which was awarded $750,000 for staff capacity building to provide and expand high-quality child-welfare services for children in need; Florida Humanities, which will receive $125,000 in support of humanities programming; and Solutions to Avoid Red Tide, which was awarded $350,000 to expand the Healthy Pond Collaborative.
“Chuck and Margie Barancik believed philanthropy has the power to enrich the lives of all people,” said Barancik Foundation president and CEO Teri A Hansen. “Our board is honoring that vision by investing in crucial nonprofits that our community has increasingly come to rely on.”
