Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver Receives $10.8 Million
Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver has announced a $10.75 million gift from the Helen K. and Arthur E. Johnson Foundation in support of one of its fifteen clubs.
The largest gift in the organization's 54-year history includes $8 million to create an endowment for the Arthur E. Johnson Boys & Girls Club in west Denver. The remaining $2.75 million will be used to pay for capital improvements at the facility. The club, which opened in 1967 with support from the foundation, provides quality afterschool programming for a hundred and fifty high-need low-income children and teens daily.
"With fifteen clubs throughout the metro Denver area, it is a relief to know that one of our clubs now has long-term security to support the families and kids who need us most," said John Barry, CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver. "This significant donation further demonstrates the Johnson Foundation's investment in the young people in our community."
"Many years ago our founders, Helen K. and Arthur E. Johnson, first witnessed the positive impact of Boys and Girls Club programs, and our family foundation has been a proud partner of the organization ever since," said Johnson Foundation board chair Lynn Campion. "We continue to be amazed by the remarkable youth who emerge from these programs and are honored to help foster such long-term community impact with this gift."
