California Community Foundation receives gift valued at $55 million
The California Community Foundation (CCF) has announced a gift of two single-family residences in Beverly Hills valued at $55 million from philanthropist MacKenzie Scott in support of housing and immigration grantmaking across Los Angeles.
The gift is focused on permanently endowing grantmaking efforts to benefit Los Angeles residents in need of affordable housing. To that end, 90 percent of sale proceeds will support the foundation’s affordable housing grantmaking. The remaining 10 percent will support the foundation’s immigrant integration program.
In 2021, Scott awarded $20 million to CCF to establish the LA Arts Endowment Fund, which supports diverse, small and midsize arts organizations that play a vital role in Los Angeles’ creative economy.
“We applaud and are grateful to MacKenzie Scott’s extraordinary philanthropic investment in Los Angeles,” said CCF president and CEO Antonia Hernández. “Her singular commitment—here and across the country—to transformative philanthropy has already secured the long-term future of dozens of nonprofits. With the California Community Foundation, her generosity will support organizations struggling to solve some of the most intractable issues facing our community. We are grateful for her partnership.”
