Colorado State Receives $20.1 Million for Stadium, Arts Center

Colorado State University has received $20.1 million — the largest cash donation in its history — from the Bohemian Foundation to support two major capital projects on its Fort Collins campus, the Rocky Mountain News reports.

The Fort Collins-based foundation committed $4.9 million to expand the University Center for the Arts and $15.2 million to renovate Hughes Stadium, whose playing field will be renamed for longtime football coach Sonny Lubick. The gift follows on the heels of a $1.5 million donation from the foundation to CSU to establish the Albert C. Yates Endowed Chair in Mathematics, in honor of university president Albert Yates, who is retiring this year.

"The inspirational leadership of people like Al Yates and Sonny Lubick has propelled Colorado State University forward to become a great university," said Bohemian Foundation president Pat Stryker. "By supporting excellence in academics and athletics, the Bohemian Foundation recognizes the critical role Colorado State will play in the future of our state, even in times of economic downturn."
