Columbus Foundation Awards PRI for Renovations in Historic District

The Columbus Foundation has announced a $2 million program-related investment to Campus Partners for Community Urban Development in support of a $12 million renovation project in the Weinland Park neighborhood, a gateway to the campus of Ohio State University.

The low-interest loan will help support Weinland Park Properties' effort to renovate and restore properties along East 11th Avenue, including twenty-four row-house buildings comprising some ninety one- and two-bedroom units, paving the way for the buildings to become market-rate rentals. Rents will start at around $700 a month, with the first units expected be available later this year. Built between 1916 and 1921, the properties comprise a large portion of the approximately ninety buildings built by Columbus developer Charles Foster Johnson in the Indianola Historic District.

"Since 2009, with the Weinland Park Collaborative, the foundation and its donors have supported significant improvements in Weinland Park, investing in the neighborhood for the benefit of its residents and the community as a whole," said Columbus Foundation president and CEO Douglas F. Kridler.
