Alabama

The Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham has announced grants totaling $1,411,000 to 59 nonprofits serving Blount, Jefferson, Shelby, St. Clair, and Walker counties. The grants support efforts to build thriving communities; to overcome persistent poverty; and to embrace equity, inclusion, and economic opportunity for all members of the community. Recipients include Alabama Childhood Food Solutions ($50,000); the Birmingham Public Library ($14,000); and Hispanic Interest Coalition of Alabama ($40,000).

Colorado

The Telluride Foundation has announced its 2024 Community Grants, awarding $1.2 million to 93 regional nonprofits. Grants ranging from $1,400 to $157,000 were distributed for programs addressing health and human services, childhood development and education, athletics, and environmental and animal welfare initiatives. Three capital grants of $125,000 each were awarded to the Cimarron Athletic Field, the Ouray Housing Trust, and Telluride AIDS Benefit.

Florida

The Community Foundation of Sarasota County has announced it raised nearly $9 million for disaster relief in response to three back-to-back hurricanes. Area residents contributed $3.8 million to the foundation’s Suncoast Disaster Recovery Fund in support of area nonprofits addressing community needs and $4.9 million for the Season of Sharing Fund (SSF) to aid families in Sarasota, Manatee, DeSoto, and Charlotte counties. Through January 31, the Patterson Foundation is matching every $500,000 raised for SFF with a contribution of $100,000.

Kansas

The Hutchinson Community Foundation awarded more than $46,000 Changemakers at Work grants to 16 nonprofits serving the Reno County area. Awards ranging between $1,000 and $5,000 included Rise Up Reno Prevention Network, Hospice and Homecare of Reno County and the Sky Ryders Performing Arts Foundation. In addition, a $2,500 Gift to Dream grant was awarded to the National Alliance on Mental Illness of Reno County.

Maine

The Maine Community Foundation welcomed 27 new volunteer advisors to 11 of its 14 county and regional committees, which are comprised of community members who live and work in the area. Advisors serve as local ambassadors for the foundation, sharing their knowledge and providing on-the-ground, local leadership. In addition, the advisors review grant proposals and recommend grant awards from each county or regional fund.

Montana

The Park County Community Foundation has announced grants totaling $500,000 to local nonprofits and schools engaged in arts education, art festivals, and performing arts. Recipients include Community Art Week, the Livingston Public School District, the Gardiner School, the Shane Center, and the Park County Environmental Council.

Ohio

The Marietta Community Foundation has announced its 2024 grants totaling $123,038 through its Community Impact Fund to nonprofits across Washington County. Recipients include Memorial Health Foundation ($20,000), part of a five-year $100,000 award to help construct a new women’s and children’s hospital in Belpre; Washington County Homeless Project ($15,000); Salem Township Volunteer Fire Department ($3,988); and Ohio Valley Soccer League ($5,000).

Texas

The San Antonio Area Foundation announced 17 infrastructure and collaboration grants totaling $2.6 million with the aim of closing opportunity gaps and providing critical social services in underserved communities. Recipients include Connections Individual and Family Services ($150,000), Travis Park United Methodist Church ($125,000), Children at Risk ($30,000), and Culturingua ($100,000).

Washington

The Community Foundation North Central Washington has awarded $438,026 through its new Legacy Fund Grant program to support food security, housing, education, community enrichment efforts in Cashmere (grants totaling $26,500), Chelan Valley ($46,158), Wenatchee Valley ($326,000), and the Upper Valley ($49,368). Recipients include Cashmere Food Bank, Lake Chelan EMS, Cascade Medical Foundation, and Wenatchee for Immigrant Justice.

Wisconsin

The Oshkosh Area Community Foundation awarded nearly $328,000 in 2024 through its Women’s Fund including a $25,000 grant to Christine Ann Domestic Abuse Services for its transitional housing program. The Women’s Fund has distributed more than $3 million since 1999.

Shawano Area Community Foundation, an affiliate of the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region, has announced grants totaling $41,000 to 19 Shawano County nonprofits including the Flo’ing With Kindness Food Pantry, Marion Daycare, Safe Haven, Trees For Tomorrow, and Unity Hospice.
