Community Foundation Update (02/08/2025)
Arizona
The Arizona Community Foundation (ACF) has announced nearly $47 million in grants and scholarships were awarded during its third quarter, which ended December 31, 2024. ACF awarded more than 2,000 grants and scholarships through the foundation and its six statewide regional offices in Cochise, Flagstaff, the Gila Valley, Sedona, Yavapai County, and Yuma. A total of $11 million was awarded in support of health innovations, $10.2 million in support of community improvement and development, $10 million in support of arts and culture, and $1 million in support of the environment and sustainability. In addition, $12.4 million was awarded toward scholarships and education-related grants.
Arkansas
The Hot Springs Area Community Foundation, an affiliate of the Arkansas Community Foundation, has provided support to Child Care Aware of West Central Arkansas to dispense educational supplies at early education centers. This past year, the focus was on resources that use songs and music for better brain development. Childcare centers across Garland and Montgomery counties received a classroom “kit” filled with music-related books, instruments, and dancing props.
California
The San Diego Foundation has been awarded the distinguished 2025 TRUST Award for Excellence in Philanthropy by The Nonprofit Institute at the University of San Diego. The award recognizes the foundation’s commitment to effective governance, social equity, and lasting community impact.
Massachusetts
The Greater Worcester Community Foundation has announced grants totaling $2.25 million to help sustain the growth of arts, culture, and creative endeavors across Worcester County. The funds, awarded through the foundation’s Creative Worcester County initiative, were provided by a combination of public and private sources.
Michigan
The Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation has announced that it awarded a total of $3.7 million in grants and scholarships and awarded and $2.7 million in gifts from community members across the region in 2024. The foundation also received nearly 1,100 gifts totaling more than $2.67 million, including nearly $850,000 in new contributions to its community funds.
Montana
The Park County Community Foundation in Livingston has announced that its Legacy Giving Program will host a free event on March 3. The presentation will invite Park County residents to consider “Do I Need a Will?: Be in Control of Your Legacy.” Presenter Marsha Goetting is a professor at Montana State University in Bozeman.
Nebraska
The Omaha Community Foundation has announced the launch of the 2025 Nonprofit Success Series, a collection of workshops designed to equip nonprofit leaders, board members, and advisors with essential knowledge, tools, and strategies to strengthen their organizations. The monthly sessions will begin on February 11, with the initial topic: Community foundation essentials.
New Hampshire
The New Hampshire Charitable Foundation has announced that it awarded more than $3.2 million in grant funding to 138 nonprofit organizations through its 2024 Community Grants program. Recipients include Amoskeag Health, Careers CLiC, Granite Pathways, and New Hampshire Oral Health Coalition.
Pennsylvania
The Erie Community Foundation (ECF) has announced the promotion of Olivia Burgess to director of collective giving. Since 2022, Burgess has served as the foundation’s executive coordinator and philanthropic services officer. ECF also announced the addition of Molly Wojcik as philanthropic services assistant and Christine Snippert as staff accountant.
