Arizona
The Arizona Community Foundation has announced the promotions of Kimberly C. Kur to the position of chief development officer, Eric Nystrom to the position of chief technology officer, and Glenn Wike to the position of senior vice president for strategy and community investment.
California
The Santa Barbara Foundation has announced grants totaling $500,000 in support of small, independently owned local restaurants impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. Established in February, the Elaine F. Stepanek Restaurant Fund awarded grants of up to $10,000 to seventy-one establishments.
The San Diego Foundation has announced grants totaling $400,000 in support of efforts to build generational wealth for Black San Diegans. To that end, grants of $100,00 were awarded to the Neighborhood House Association in support of the organization's Youth Fellowship Internship Program, which will provide high-quality, paid internships to up to a hundred Black high school and college students in the region, and the San Diego Workforce Partnership, whose TechHire program will use the funds to provide information communications and technology (ICT) training, work experience, and job placement assistance to Black San Diegans. The Workforce Partnership also will receive grants of $100,000 from the foundation and Bank of America in support of its Construction Career Jumpstart program for San Diegans interested in a career in energy, construction, or the utilities industry.
Colorado
The Community Foundation Boulder County has announced the appointments of tax attorney J.M. Scott Beard, Jr., higher education administrator Fernando R. Guzman III, business coach Carey Mason, and retired foundation executive Julie Rogers to its board of trustees.
Connecticut
The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven has announced that its Great Give will take place on May 4–5. Now in its twelfth year, the online giving event benefits local nonprofits serving the foundation's twenty-town region.
Florida
The Community Foundation of Sarasota County has announced the appointment of Ranata Reeder as vice president of knowledge and equity, a new position. Reeder most recently served as executive director of the South Florida Community Development Coalition.
Idaho
The Spur Community Foundation in Ketchum has announced grants totaling more than $360,000 in support of twenty-one organizations. Grants awarded in the first of four funding cycles in 2021 include support for organizations working in the areas of education, health and human services, the environment, and animal welfare.
Massachusetts
The Boston Foundation has announced a round of grants totaling more than $2.1 million in support of thirty-three organizations. The quarterly grants include the first awards from strategy-supporting organizations that are working to advance social justice in Boston and the region. Grant recipients include the Dance Complex, Hyde Square Task Force, The Basics, Inc., and the Center for Cooperative Development and Solidarity.
The City of Cambridge has announced plans to launch a guaranteed income pilot initiative targeting the city's most vulnerable residents. In partnership with the Cambridge Community Foundation, the Cambridge RISE program will provide monthly payments of $500 to a hundred and twenty eligible single caretaker households over an eighteen-month period, beginning in August. Participants will be selected by lottery and will be able to access benefits counseling from area nonprofits.
Michigan
The Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan has announced grants totaling more than $19 million in support of local organizations. Grant recipients include the Michigan Opera Theatre, New Detroit, Inc., Catholic Charities of Southwest Michigan, and Autism Speaks.
