Arkansas

The Arkansas Community Foundation has announced that its Arkansas Black Hall of Fame Foundation affiliate has awarded $50,000 in grants to projects benefiting minority and underserved communities. The grants will support projects focused on education, health and wellness, youth development, strengthening families, and economic development in the state. Recipients include the Arkansas Repertory Theater, City Connections, Haven of Northeast Arkansas, and Little Rock Diamond Foundation.

Colorado

The Community Foundation Boulder County has announced the addition of Meredith Carlton, Deb Gardner, Reina Pomeroy, and Rafael Salgado to its board of trustees. Carlton is a financial advisor. Gardner is a former state legislator and county commissioner. Pomeroy helped found Marshall Together, a grassroots organization established by survivors of the Marshall fire in 2022. And Salgado has served as executive director of Cal-Wood Education Center since 1999.

Connecticut

The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving has announced that, in partnership with the City of Hartford, the Love Your Block (LYB) grant program will award grants totaling nearly $120,000 to 14 neighborhood projects. LYB aims to bring together city leaders and citizens to revitalize neighborhoods. Recipients include the Center for Latino Progress, Colt Park Foundation, Trinity College, and the Harriet Beecher Stowe Center.

Florida

The Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties has announced grants totaling more than $5 million to 136 organizations across the region, including 21 groups that have never received a grant from the foundation. Recipients include El Sol, Hands Together for Haitians, the Faulk Center for Counseling, and the YES Institute.

Kansas

The Hutchinson Community Foundation has announced four grants totaling $57,000 from its Community Home Improvement program. The program’s inaugural recipients include NAMI Reno County, Milestone Clubhouse, Fight the Stigma, and Open Door Health Services.

Michigan

The Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan and the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation have announced their full slate of annual grants, totaling $800,000 to 37 organizations through the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Legacy Funds. The latest recipients include Franklin Wright Settlements, Project Evergreen Foundation, Grosse Pointe Theatre, and YMCA of Monroe.

New York

The New York Community Trust has launched a new visual identity to mark its centennial celebration. Overseen by Hyperakt, a New York-based studio, the refresh includes a new logo and overall brand feel, including linear elements intended to convey a throughline embodying the Trust’s commitment to connecting the past, present, and future.

North Carolina

The Foundation for the Carolinas has announced the addition of Laura Yates Clark as president. Since 2018, Clark has served as president and CEO of the United Way of Greater Charlotte.

Ohio

The Dayton Foundation has announced changes to its discretionary grant application process. Nonprofits may now electronically apply for a discretionary grant through the foundation’s new grant application portal, and a letter of intent is no longer a prerequisite to applying for a discretionary grant. In addition, the foundation has added a third yearly grant application cycle, which will offer an additional opportunity for nonprofits to receive funding. The next application deadline is Monday, July 8, 2024.

South Carolina

The Community Foundation of the Lowcountry has announced its second Impact Grant cycle of fiscal year 2024, awarding $674,200 to 11 local organizations. Recipients include Bluffton Community Soup Kitchen, Second Helpings, United Way of the Lowcountry, and Volunteers in Medicine Hilton Head Island.

Washington

The Spokane-based Innovia Foundation has announced it is awarding $1,089,400 in grants to 112 organizations in eastern Washington and northern Idaho through its annual Community Grants Program. The grants will support education and youth development, health and well-being, arts and culture, economic opportunity, and improved quality of life. Recipients include the Old Hotel Art Gallery, Othello Food Bank, Inland Oasis, and Chief Joseph Foundation. The latest grants are in addition to more than $100,000 already distributed this year in recognition of the foundation’s 50th anniversary.
