California

With funding from the Pasadena Community Foundation and the Pasadena Assistance Fund, the Armenian Relief Society of Western USA has announced that it plans to offer a comprehensive suite of social services to economically disadvantaged seniors in the area, including case management, form completion, health and safety assistance, and information/referrals.

Connecticut

Fairfield County's Community Foundation has announced that it is accepting applications for a new civic engagement program. The nonpartisan Get Out the Vote program will fund efforts to increase voter registration and information access for all Fairfield County residents, particularly those who historically have been disenfranchised. Grantees will receive $1,000, an invitation to participate in a peer learning/brainstorming session, and opportunities to shape and support the foundation's first county-wide registration day on September 25. The deadline to apply is July 27.

Indiana

The Steuben County Community Foundation has appointed Pam Harger, Brenda Shipe, and Jonathan Walmer to its board of directors. Harger has volunteered for the foundation for the past eighteen years in a variety of roles. Shipe became involved with the foundation after she received a Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship in 1999. And Walmer, a senior credit analyst at Wells Fargo, has served in a volunteer capacity with SCCF for many years.

Massachusetts

The Boston Foundation has announced that the Massachusetts Transgender Political Coalition has been selected by staff as the winner of this year's Out of the Blue award, a $50,000 cash grant that recognizes the work of a deserving nonprofit in the region. MTPC is dedicated to ending oppression and discrimination on the basis of gender identity and gender expression and, to that end, works to educate the public, encourages community members to take collective action, and advocates for policy reforms at local, state, and federal levels.

Minnesota

The Brainerd Lakes Area Community Foundation has given its 2018 Award in Philanthropy to the Ruttger family. The family, which has owned and operated the Bay Lake Lodge for more than a century, has been involved in numerous fundraisers for local causes over the years and in 2005 established the Ruttger Enhanced Reading Fund at the foundation in support of literacy and reading instruction at elementary schools in the area.

North Carolina

The Community Foundation of Henderson County has announced that during its 2017-18 fiscal year it received 1,602 gifts totaling more than $7.7 million and awarded more than $3.57 million in grants and scholarships to 363 organizations and area students.

Ohio

The Findlay-Hancock County Community Foundation has announced a new slate of officers for 2018-19. They are: Gary Wilson (chair), Gwen Kuenzli (vice chair), Garry Peiffer (treasurer), and Kim Stumpp (secretary).

Pennsylvania

The Philadelphia Foundation and the Pennsylvania Immigration and Citizenship Coalition have announced $321,600 in grants to twenty groups serving thirteen Pennsylvania counties through PA Is Ready!, a statewide coalition of immigrant-serving organizations. Recipients include Asian Americans United, the Free Migration Project, Ceiba and Esperanza Immigration Legal Services, and Casa San Jose.

South Carolina

The Community Foundation of the Lowcountry has announced that Denise K. Spencer is stepping down as president and CEO. The foundation has begun to assemble a search committee, and Spencer will serve until her successor is in place, which is expected to occur by next June.

Texas

The Dallas Foundation has announced grants totaling $1.2 million in support of thirty-five nonprofits in Dallas and Collin counties. Made through field of interest funds at the foundation, the grants include $287,020 to the Spay Neuter Network, $75,000 to The Bridge, and $35,000 to Dallas Black Dance Theater.
