Connecticut
The Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut in New London has awarded scholarships totaling $1.1 million to more than 300 students for the 2024-25 academic year, The Day reports. Through its donors, the foundation has awarded more than $11.9 million in scholarships to 3,675 students since its founding in 1983. This year’s recipients will receive an average of $3,522 from the foundation.
Idaho
The Community Foundation of Teton Valley in Driggs hosted its 17th annual Tin Cup Challenge Awards Ceremony, which brought nonprofit leaders, donors, and volunteers together to celebrate the successful results of the 2024 Tin Cup Challenge. The foundation raised more than $3.3 million during the event, which represents a 19 percent increase year-over-year.
Indiana
The Community Foundation DeKalb County in Auburn has announced third-quarter grants totaling more than $41,000. Recipients include Erin’s House for Grieving Children, Alliance Industries, Shifters Car Club, and Excelsior Arts Academy and Youth Theater.
Iowa
The Quad Cities Community Foundation in Bettendorf has announced that, during the first half of 2024, it awarded more than $6.3 million in grants, received nearly $6.4 million in gifts, and was entrusted with estate gifts totaling $5.2 million. In addition, it engaged more than 450 nonprofit professionals and volunteers in its Center for Nonprofit Excellence workshops and joined regional affiliate partners in a strategic planning process that will create unique plans for broadening their local missions.
Kansas
The Central Kansas Community Foundation has announced the addition of Macey Mueller as associate director of its Halstead Community Foundation affiliate. A longtime public relations professional, Mueller most recently worked as a freelance writer, contributing to state and national agricultural publications.
Louisiana
The Greater New Orleans Foundation (GNOF) has announced activation of its Gayle and Tom Benson Disaster Relief Fund to address community needs in the wake of tropical storm Francine, which made landfall earlier this week. Set in motion before the storm hit, the fund includes initial commitments totaling $20,000 from GNOF to Via Link and Second Harvest Food Bank.
Maryland
The Community Foundation of Frederick County has announced scholarships totaling $1.9 million to 350 students for the 2024-25 academic year. Recipients come from all 10 Frederick County Public High Schools, local private schools, and home school programs.
North Carolina
The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina in Asheville has announced five grants totaling $495,000 through its Human Services and Natural Resources program. The recipients include OnTrack Financial Education and Counseling, American Rivers, the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation, Camp Grier, and Mountain True.
Wisconsin
The Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region in Appleton has announced the additions of Amy MacKenzie as director of marketing and communications and Kristy Bloedow as a database specialist. MacKenzie has years of experience in the nonprofit sector both as a staff member and as a volunteer. Bloedow has spent the majority of her career at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
