California
The Silicon Valley Community Foundation has announced that Maeve Miccio has been named vice president of strategic partnerships, Eastern Region. She previously served as the foundation's vice president of corporate responsibility.
Connecticut
The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving has announced a three-year grant of $210,000 to the Partnership for Strong Communities in support of that organization's efforts to end homelessness. PSC uses the Coordinated Access Network, which works to streamline and standardize the services of homeless providers, ensuring a single point of access for those in need. The CAN system is being adapted for the project's two target populations, homeless youth/young adults and families with children, and the grant from the foundation will support work by the Greater Hartford Region's CAN to design and implement a statewide model.
Illinois
The Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley in Aurora has announced a $10,000 grant to Family Counseling Service toward construction costs for a life-skills training center. Located in a former auro repair shop and nicknamed "the Garage," the center will assist children and youth who have a variety of emotional and behavioral challenges. When completed, the center expects to serve more than three hundred children annually.
New Hampshire
The New Hampshire Charitable Foundation in Concord has announced that Dick and Lorraine Levalliere have added $500,000 in matching funds to the Medallion Fund, which they established in 1996 to provide scholarships for people who are learning trades or pursuing certifications in emerging technical sectors and other high-demand occupations. The scholarships cover the costs for certificates, licensing, apprenticeships, and two-year college degrees. Since the Levallieres created the first Medallion Fund, twenty-three other funds have been established at the foundation by businesses and individuals. The additional funding from the couple will be used to match, on a 1:2 basis, any gifts for the creation of new Medallion Funds or made to existing funds.
North Carolina
The Cumberland Community Foundation in Fayetteville has awarded fall grants totaling more than $448,000, the Fay Observer reports. Recipients include the Cape Fear Regional Theatre, the Child Advocacy Center, Action Pathways Second Harvest Food Bank, and USO of North Carolina.
Ohio
As part of its Greenlight Grants program, the Dayton Foundation has announced seven grants totaling $18,780 to nonprofits seeking small grants for special projects. Recipients include the Jewish Federation of Greater Dayton, the Women's Club of the Dayton Foundation, the National Society to Prevent Blindness, and Yellow Springs Senior Center.
Vermont
The Addison Community Athletics Foundation, a supporting organization at the Vermont Community Foundation, has announced the addition of Brian McDonough to its board.
