Colorado
The Community Foundation Boulder County has announced the inaugural grantees of its Veterans Fund grant program. Grants totaling $3,700 were awarded to Bridge House, Boulder County CareConnect, Homeless Outreach Providing Encouragement, and the Veterans Writing Project.
Florida
The Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties in West Palm Beach has announced that it has received the 2016 Philanthropy in the Arts mARTies award from the Arts Council of Martin County as well as Outstanding Philanthropic Foundation for National Philanthropy Day from the Association of Fundraising Professionals in Palm Beach County.
Indiana
The Central Indiana Community Foundation has announced that its Glick Fund awarded $50,000 to Exodus Refugee Immigration in support of that organization’s Citizenship Training program. Last year, public funding for Exodus was partially halted as then-Gov. Mike Pence attempted to block Syrian refugees from resettling in the state.
Louisiana
The Greater New Orleans Foundation has announced that Impact 100, a women’s giving circle it administers, has awarded a $100,000 grant to the Louisiana Center for Children's Rights, which represents children being prosecuted in the justice system. Among other things, LCCR employs lawyers, social workers, investigators, and youth advocates to improve life outcomes for its clients, enhance public safety, and save the public money.
Maryland
The Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore in Salisbury has awarded grants totaling more than $60,000 to thirteen organizations, Ocean City Today reports. Recipients include the Art Institute and Gallery of Salisbury, Athletes Serving Athletes, Coastal Hospice, and the Shirley Grace Pregnancy Center.
Massachusetts
The Cape Cod Foundation has announced that the Institute for Nonprofit Practice is launching a certificate program on the Cape designed to strengthen the local nonprofit sector. A collaborative comprising eight funders will underwrite the program, which is affiliated with Tufts University's Jonathan M. Tisch College of Civic Life. Seventeen students are expected to participate in the institute's inaugural class.
Michigan
Administered by the Dearborn Community Foundation, the City of Lawrenceburg Youth Grant Program has awarded $5,000 to Warm the Children to purchase winter clothing for children in need in the county, the Dearborn County Register reports. In addition, $4,000 has been donated to the Warm the Children Endowment Fund at the foundation.
New York
The Westchester Community Foundation, the Hartsdale-based affiliate of the New York Community Trust, has announced the election of Brandon J. Tito to its board of advisors.
Ohio
The Cleveland Foundation has announced the promotion of India Pierce Lee to the position of senior vice president, program. Lee will succeed executive vice president Robert E. Eckardt, who is retiring at the end of the year. The foundation also announced the promotion of Lillian Kuri to the position of vice president, strategic grantmaking, arts, and urban design initiatives.
Vermont
The Walter Cerf Community Fund, a component fund of the Middlebury-based Vermont Community Foundation, has announced 2016 grants totaling $111,060 to twenty-nine organizations. Recipients include the Brandon Free Public Library, Bristol Village Cohousing, Everybody Wins! Vermont, and the Opera Company of Middlebury.
