A diverse group of nonprofit officials in conversation

Colorado

Community Foundation Boulder County has announced the creation of a Housing Support Program, as part of its continued commitment to meeting the ongoing and evolving needs of those affected by the 2021 Marshall Fire. Funded through the foundation’s Boulder County Wildfire Fund, the program will provide up to a total of $5 million to qualifying households that are currently experiencing or will soon experience financial hardship due to the sunsetting of Additional Living Expense (ALE) insurance in December. Eligible households may be offered up to $2,500 per month for up to six months or until they receive their certificate of occupancy, whichever comes first. Recipients will be allotted no more than two three-month extensions, depending on the availability of funding.

Connecticut

The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven has announced that longtime president and CEO William W. Ginsberg will retire in November 2024 after more than 24 years in his position. During his tenure, the foundation has grown dramatically, with almost $600 million in contributions; its assets have nearly tripled to $710 million, up from $225 million at the end of 2000. Today, the foundation provides more than $30 million annually to hundreds of local nonprofit organizations.

Indiana

The Indianapolis-based Central Indiana Community Foundation has announced that its Central Indiana Senior Fund awarded grants totaling $910,000 to 42 organizations serving seniors in the region. The fund invests in organizations and programs that serve individuals ages 55 and older who have low-to-moderate incomes or experience isolation from community resources and opportunities. Recipients include Drug Free Marion County, Pathway Resource Center, Roots International (a fiscal agent for We All Matter), and Art Mix.

Massachusetts

The Barr Foundation has announced that Cambridge Community Foundation, Community Foundation for MetroWest, and Greater Lowell Community Foundation have joined its Creative Commonwealth Initiative. Each community foundation will receive a three-year, $525,000 grant beginning in 2024 to help meet its active commitment to the arts. Their involvement promises new resources targeted to arts and creativity in additional parts of the state, as well as greater opportunities for alignment and collaboration through this novel partnership of private and community foundations.

Nebraska
