Connecticut
The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving has announced grants totaling $975,000 in support of four agencies working to provide assistance to homeless individuals in the greater Hartford area. Grants were awarded to the Connecticut Coalition to End Homelessness ($260,000), the Salvation Army of Greater Hartford ($231,000), My Sister's Place ($220,000), and Immaculate Conception Shelter and Housing Corporation ($174,000).
Illinois
The Freeport Community Foundation has appointed Patricia Burke, Craig Monks, and Paulette Williams-Thomas to its board of directors.
Montana
The Montana Community Foundation in Helena has announced Mary Rutherford as its new CEO.
New York
The Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo has announced that its 2014-15 scholarship application, which was made available this week, allows students to receive text message alerts about news and information related to the application process. To receive such alerts, applicants must text SCHOLARSHIP 2014 to 877877. Requirements and application instructions are available on the foundation's Web site, and the deadline to apply is March 1, 2014.
Ohio
The Richland County Foundation in Mansfield has announced that its Connections Fund has awarded five grants totaling more than $6,200 in support of youth programs. Recipients include Big Brothers and Big Sisters of North Central Ohio, the Mansfield Area YMCA, Mansfield Senior High School, the Mansfield Integrated Learning Center, and John Sherman Elementary School.
Oregon
The Portland-based Oregon Community Foundation has announced a $250,000 award to Oregon State University-Cascades. The award represents the second half of a $500,000 challenge grant the university met last May.
