California
The San Francisco Foundation and the Core Community Benefits Agreement Implementation Committee have announced a grant of up to $610,000 to the San Francisco Housing Development Corp to provide asset-building and financial empowerment services to residents of District 10. The effort is designed to help residents of the district improve their credit scores and increase their savings, while providing more working capital and small loans to businesses.
Connecticut
The Berlin Land Trust has established a fund at the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain, the Hartford Courant reports.
Idaho
The Community Foundation of Teton Valley in Driggs, which is an affiliate of the Wyoming-based Community Foundation of Jackson Hole, has appointed Carrie Mowrey as its new executive director.
Indiana
The Central Indiana Community Foundation has announced Charles Sutphin as its new board chair, and Milton Thompson and Corby Thompson as board chairs, respectively, of the Indianapolis Foundation and the Legacy Fund of Hamilton County.
Oklahoma
The Cherokee Strip Community Foundation in Enid has announced that it is accepting grant applications for the 2014 fiscal year. The foundation will consider funding for special projects, innovative programs, and equipment, with the majority of grants ranging in amount from $1,000 to $10,000. Letters of intent are due by July 31.
Washington
The Yakima Valley Community Foundation has named Michael Morales as director of community engagement and grants, a recently created position, the Yakima Herald-Republic. Morales worked in city government for fifteen years before retiring in 2012 and served as Yakima’s interim city manager for much of 2011 and 2012.
