Arizona

The Community Foundation for Southern Arizona has announced that Jennifer Jones has rejoined the organization as director of donor services and development. Jones previously served the foundation as an advancement officer.

California

The Carlsbad Charitable Foundation, an affiliate of the San Diego Foundation that is celebrating its tenth anniversary, has announced a grant of $60,000 to Interfaith Community Services. Since 2008, CCF has awarded more than $700,000 to forty-four organizations working to improve the quality of life in Carlsbad. The grant to ICS will enable the organization to hire a full-time case manager who can focus on triage, intervention, and placement for substance-addicted individuals at its Recovery and Wellness Center.

Colorado

The Community Foundation Boulder County has announced the additions of Susan Anderson, Joshua Forman, Cindy Lindsay, and Jim Williams to its board.

Connecticut

The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven has announced that it raised nearly $1.3 million during the Great Give, its thirty-six-hour online giving event. This year, 34 percent of donors reported making a gift for the first time to one of the more than three hundred participating nonprofits. Grand prizes were awarded to the nonprofits that attracted the greatest number of new donors (Elm City Internationals, $10,000; Booker T. Washington Academy, $5,000; Inextricably Bound Community Development Corporation, $3,000) and the greatest number of donors (New Haven Land Trust, $15,000; Music Haven, $5,000; Integrated Refugee and Immigrant Services, $3,000). In addition, two new matching gift prizes targeting younger philanthropists and animal lovers were added this year.

Kentucky

The Community Foundation of Louisville has named Kate Biagi-Rickert as its new director of stewardship.

Massachusetts

The Cape Cod Foundation has announced that the Institute for Nonprofit Practice will conduct its award-winning core certificate program on the Cape for the second consecutive year. Nonprofit leaders from the Cape and Islands are invited to apply for the intensive professional development program, which runs from October to April. Applications are due by June 15.

New Hampshire

The New Hampshire Community Foundation has announced that Heather Drolet has been named the 2017 recipient of the Christa McAuliffe Sabbatical. Created in honor of the Concord High School teacher who perished on the Space Shuttle Challenger in 1986 and administered by the foundation, the honor gives an exemplary New Hampshire teacher a year off with pay and a materials budget to bring a great educational idea to fruition. Drolet, a technologist at the Christ McAuliffe School in Concord, will use the year to develop NH Kids Code, a project aimed at inspiring elementary school students — especially girls — to explore computer science while honing "the four Cs:" critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration. Once it has been developed, Drolet will bring the project, a week at a time, to fifth-grade classrooms at twenty-five elementary schools around the state, during which kids will develop their own mobile app related to something they are studying.

Ohio

The Greater Cincinnati Foundation has announced that the latest edition of the PULSE Report: Applying a Gender Lens to the Wage Gap released by its Women's Fund found that women in the region, on average, make 79 cents for every dollar made by a man. In partnership with the UC Economics Center, the fund examined the gender wage gap in the region, including the causes and long-term impacts of that gap on women and the local economy.

Oklahoma

The Oklahoma City Community Foundation has announced that it recently broke ground on a $4.1 million building-expansion project. Featuring new meeting rooms, private offices, and additional work space and storage, the three-floor structure will adjoin the south end of the foundation’s existing building and will increase the meeting space available to charitable organizations in the area. The project is expected to be completed sometime in 2018.
