Alabama
The Community Foundation of Huntsville/Madison County has named Stuart Obermann as its new executive director, effective June 1. He will succeed Lynne Berry.
California
The Fresno Regional Foundation has announced the opening of its Human Services and Teen Pregnancy Prevention competitive grant cycles. In 2013, the foundation will grant approximately $380,000 for teen pregnancy prevention efforts and $120,000 for capacity-building initiatives by organizations serving children up to age 8. Capacity-building grants will focus on board governance, leadership development, and fiscal management. For the Human Services grant cycle, FRF is piloting a letter of interest process before inviting organizations to submit a full proposal. All interested applicants must submit a two-page LOI by Wednesday, May 29.
The Silicon Valley Community Foundation has announced that it is collaborating with GuideStar India to launch the India Giving Network portal, an effort to help individuals interested in giving to causes and organizations in India leverage their resources more effectively and efficiently.
Nebraska
The Omaha Community Foundation has named Matt Darling as its new director of donor services.
South Dakota
The South Dakota Community Foundation in Pierre has awarded $10,000 to the Historic Homestake Opera House Society, the Rapid City Journal reports. The grant, which matches a grant from the Goldcorp/Wharf Resources Sustainable Prosperity Fund, will help the organization complete restoration of its historic 1914 theater.
Washington
The Seattle Foundation has announced that it raised more than $11 million during its 24-hour GiveBig online fundraising event on May 15. Last year the event raised $8.8 million.
Wisconsin
The Oshkosh Area Community Foundation has named Diane Abraham as its new president and CEO. Abraham is currently vice president for philanthropy at Dignity Health Arizona and interim president and CEO at Barrow Neurological and the St. Joseph's Foundations.
