California
The Fresno Regional Foundation has announced grants totaling $203,116 in support of twelve youth organizations serving the San Joaquin Valley. Recipients include Family Services of Tulare County, Jumpstart for Young Children, Grandma's House, and the Foundation for Fresno County Public Library.
The Calaveras Community Foundation in Angels Camp has announced eleven grants totaling $53,612 to local organizations working in the areas of youth development, aging in place for seniors, and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) education. Recipients include Central Calveras Fire, Gardens to Grow In, the Arts Committee of North East Calveras County, and the Mountain Ranch Youth Alliance.
Louisiana
The Greater New Orleans Foundation has announced that Pop Up Happy Hours will begin on July 11. For six consecutive Fridays, happy hours will be sponsored as a way to support and build awareness of specific nonprofit organizations in the area. Now in their second year, the events are presented in partnership with 504ward, Emerging Philanthropists of New Orleans, IBERIABank, Liskow & Lewis, Teach for America, Urban League Young Professionals, Whitney Bank, and the Young Leadership Council.
Ohio
The Richland County Foundation in Mansfield has announced grants totaling more than $230,000 to help meet emerging needs in the region. Recipients include the New Store, Lexington Western Elementary School, Rotary Adult Daycare at Mansfield Memorial Homes, and Richland County Transit.
The Greater Cincinnati Foundation has announced 146 grants totaling $140,206 through its Summertime Kids program, including $30,000 through the Charles H. Dater Foundation. Recipients include Big Brothers Big Sisters of Butler County, My Nose Turns Red Theatre Company, and the Queen City Balladeers.
Oregon
In partnership with the Lincoln City Cultural Center (LCCC), Taft High 7-12, and Oceanlake and Taft Elementary schools, the Oregon Community Foundation in Portland has awarded $210,000 to schools in the Lincoln County School District through the Siletz Bay Music Festival, the Oregon Coast Daily News reports. The funding will be used to teach music fundamentals to fourth- and fifth-graders and to help start a sixth-grade band that feeds into existing band and music programs at the schools. The schools also will extend music opportunities to all K-12 students through artists-in-residence, concerts, summer camps in musical theater and composition, and workshops with noted musicians.
Wisconsin
The Greater Milwaukee Foundation has announced that it is partnering with Milwaukee Area Technical College to help low-income students complete their education and get on the job track in a higher-wage profession. To that end, the foundation will award $500,000 in scholarships to cover the cost of tuition, books, and supplies to students participating in MATC's integrated career pathways program.
