Colorado

The Community Foundation Serving Boulder County has announced the rebranding of the Entrepreneurs Foundation (EFCO) as Pledge 1% Colorado. Established in 2007, EFCO has partnered with a hundred companies, which together have awarded nearly $5 million to area nonprofits and provided hours of volunteer time. According to the foundation, the new structure will enable it to recognize and serve more companies in the state that are committed to giving back and grow the network’s impact.

Illinois

The Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley in Aurora has announced a $15,000 capital fund grant to VNA Health Care in support of the organization’s purchase of the HealthStream Learning Center. The acquisition will enable VNA to provide staff with online access to evidence-based training materials that that are regularly updated, accelerate the clinical orientation process for new staff, and support the organization’s efforts to improve patient outcomes and reduce its medical and legal risk.

New York

The New York Community Trust has announced thirteen grants totaling more than $800,000. Awarded through its Hive Digital Media Learning Fund, which also receives support from the Altman, MacArthur, Mozilla, and Stavros Niarchos foundations, the grants are designed to help the recipients take their projects, most of which were previously incubated with Hive funding, and share them with new audiences. Recipients include NYC Salt, the Tribeca Film Institute, Games for Change, and the DreamYard Project.

Oklahoma

The Oklahoma City Community Foundation has announced grants totaling nearly $200,000 to twelve charities through its Opportunities for Children iFund. Grants awarded through the program, which supports organizations in central Oklahoma providing direct services for children age 14 and younger, will support literacy, the promotion of wellness and physical activity, and recreational, social, and cultural activities for children who otherwise would not have those opportunities.

Vermont

The Vermont Community Foundation has announced grants and scholarships totaling $69,500 from the Samara Fund, a component fund at the foundation that provides support for the state’s LGBTQ community. Eighteen nonprofits will receive a total of $61,000 for their efforts, which include assisting transgender individuals in advocating for their rights, mounting theater productions with LGBTQ themes and characters, and establishing a weekly youth-driven support group program in the Northeast Kingdom. In addition $8,500 in scholarships was awarded to seven high school seniors.

Washington

The Seattle Foundation has announced new grants awarded through its Neighbor to Neighbor Fund. A key strategy of the foundation’s Center for Community Partnerships, N2N awards grants of up to $5,000 on a quarterly basis to local organizations working to achieve greater equity in their neighborhoods. Recipients include Our Future Matters, Tasveer, the East Indian Connection, and the Heart of Africa Services Center of Washington.
