Dallas Foundation awards inaugural Racial Equity Fund grants
The Dallas Foundation has announced the inaugural recipients of grants from its Racial Equity Fund.
Launched in late 2021, the fund is aimed at addressing the ongoing disparities that directly impact Dallas’s Black and Latinx/Hispanic residents at nearly every stage of life and advance equity for BIPOC residents by directing philanthropic dollars to organizations working to combat systemic inequities.
Selected by a diverse grant committee reflective of the racial makeup of the Dallas community, the 25 grants are focused on data-informed efforts in areas including housing/infrastructure, economic, education, criminal justice/government, and health. Recipients include AES Literacy Institute Inc., Big D Reads, the Dallas Black Dance Theatre, and the Puede Network.
“We’re confident these investments from our Racial Equity Fund will propel true, tangible change in the community where all of our neighbors can thrive and race no longer statistically dictates one’s social outcome,” said Dallas Foundation president and CEO Matthew Randazzo. “These 25 grantees rose to the top of hundreds of worthy applicants, all of whom are striving alongside us to make Dallas a more equitable place for everyone, and it’s our privilege to support and spotlight their important work.”
