Danbury Hospital Receives $10 Million Pledge, Challenge From Anonymous Donor
Western Connecticut Health Network has announced a $10 million capital campaign gift to Danbury Hospital in support of a new patient tower.
The donor, a Danbury resident who wishes to remain anonymous for now, also committed an additional $20 million to WCHN if it achieves its $50 million campaign goal — at which time the donor's name will be revealed. Funds raised through the campaign will be used to invest in facilities, technologies, and research at Danbury Hospital, New Milford Hospital, and WCHN's Biomedical Research Institute.
According to Grace Linhard, executive director and vice president of the WCHN Foundation, the campaign needs to raise an additional $10 million to reach its goal and meet the challenge. "We are exceedingly grateful to this generous donor who has made the largest commitment in our history and wishes to inspire others to enhance health care in our community," said Linhard.
"Danbury Hospital provides my family and our region with world-class health care that rivals the best academic medical centers in America," said the donor. "It's an organization that can serve as a national model for personalizing exceptional care in a cost-efficient manner. I hope that my donation and challenge inspire many others to make similar contributions to our community's health."
