Family Eldercare Receives $500,000 From Meadows and Mabee Foundations
Family Eldercare, an Austin-based nonprofit organization serving frail elders, people with disabilities, and their caregivers in central Texas, has received grants totaling $500,000 toward the construction of a $6.1 million senior housing center in East Austin from the Dallas-based Meadows Foundation and the J.E. and L.E. Mabee Foundation in Tulsa.
In addition to the funding from Meadows and the Mabee Foundation, the project also received $3.2 million from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, $500,000 from the Morton and Angela Topfer Family Foundation, and $500,000 from the Federal Home Loan Bank.
The organization continues to seek funding to build the fifty-four-unit center, said Family Eldercare executive director Karen Langley.
