The Global Fund for Children has announced that it awarded emergency grants totaling nearly $1.3 million through its Emergency Response Fund. To date, the organization has provided support to 46 partners in Ukraine, Italy, Moldova, and Romania.
The Howard G. Buffett Foundation has awarded $2.7 million to the Spirit of America, which is delivering nine 50-passenger buses to the Ukrainian Territory Defense Forces, CNBC reports. The foundation’s gift also funded 375 advanced trauma kits for Ukrainians on the front lines. The foundation made the announcement after Howard Buffett met with Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv earlier this week.
Ukrainian-American nonprofit Razom for Ukraine has announced a gift of $1 million from humanitarian and activist Tipper Gore to provide immediate humanitarian aid to Ukrainians on the ground. The former second lady has long been involved in disaster relief efforts and is working with Razom to ensure that Ukrainians receive critically needed aid and supplies. The majority of the gift, $900,000, will be used to send direct aid to Ukraine, while the remaining $100,000 will go toward expanding the organization’s capacity.
The Victor Pinchuk Foundation has announced the purchase of an anesthetic machine worth UAH 1,680,000 (approximately $57,000) for the Zaporizhzhya Regional Children’s Hospital as part of the Ukraine Relief Fund, a joint charitable initiative established by Victor and Olena Pinchuk and the Victor Pinchuk Foundation, Eric and Wendy Schmidt and Schmidt Futures, Robert F. Smith and Vista Equity Partners, Andrew and Nicola Forrest’s Minderoo Foundation, Bill Ford, and the General Atlantic Foundation. The medical facility is located close to the front line, and according to the Pinchuk Foundation it has consistently provided highly qualified care to children in the Zaporizhzhya and Donetsk regions over the past two months who have been affected by the fighting in the temporarily occupied territories.
