Habitat for Humanity of North Carolina Receives $10 Million

Habitat for Humanity of North Carolina has announced a $10 million investment from the SECU Foundation to expand affordable housing in the state.

The investment from the philanthropic arm of the North Carolina State Employees' Credit Union will establish the SECU Habitat Challenge, an initiative to build or renovate a Habitat house in each of the state's one hundred counties over the next three years. According to a memorandum of understanding signed by the partners, HHNC will develop a plan to implement the challenge by the end of May 2015.

"The SECU Habitat Challenge is a magnificent opportunity for Habitat affiliates across North Carolina and will be a catalyst for increasing their support for one another, expanding our reach to unserved areas," said HHNC chairman Bill Cooke. "We are excited, honored, and humbled to partner with State Employees' Credit Union members via their foundation to provide homes for deserving families in all hundred counties of the state."
