Hearst Foundations Announce $1.1 Million in Grants
The San Francisco-based Hearst Foundations have awarded grants totaling $1.1 million to eleven California nonprofits, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Recipients include Pacific Community Ventures, which was awarded $100,000 for business start-up training; the California State Parks Foundation, which received $75,000 to support youth education efforts; NatureBridge, which received $50,000 for scholarships in outdoor education; and La Cocina, which was awarded $35,000 to help minority women start businesses in the food industry.
In addition, the foundations awarded $150,000 to the Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford University for its Family Center Care program, $75,000 to the George Mark Children's Home to develop a long-term financial plan, and $50,000 to Marymount High School for financial aid scholarships.
