Howard Heinz Endowment Awards $4 Million to Andy Warhol Museum

The Pittsburgh-based Howard Heinz Endowment has announced a $4 million gift to the Andy Warhol Museum, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

The gift, awarded in honor of the museum's tenth anniversary, is the third largest in the museum's history and will boost its endowment to $7.1 million. It also brings to $8 million the amount the Heinz Endowment has awarded to the capital campaign of the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh, which runs the Warhol and three other museums in Pittsburgh.

"Any museum can hang around long enough to accumulate and celebrate anniversaries," said Teresa Heinz Kerry, chair of the Howard Heinz Endowment and a trustee of the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh. "But the first ten years of this museum have been years of playfulness and experimentation. I think Andy would have been proud."
