Hunt Family Foundation Awards $1 Million Challenge Grant to El Paso Children's Hospital
The El Paso Children's Hospital has announced a $1 million challenge grant for its intensive care unit from the Hunt Family Foundation.
The grant will be used to match every $2 raised with an additional $1, up to $1 million, in part to help recruit pediatric specialists and staff for the newly opened hospital's intensive care unit. In appreciation of the gift, the tenth floor of the nonprofit hospital, which opened in February, has been renamed the Woody and Gayle Hunt Family Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
"The bricks and mortar are a great start, but it's these kinds of donations that are going to move the hospital forward," said Children's Hospital CEO Lawrence Duncan.
For its part, the Hunt Family Foundation is being strategic in its giving, said foundation chair Woody Hunt, as donating to the pediatric intensive care unit enables the hospital to more easily recruit highly skilled and educated people who, in turn, will contribute to the economic development of the community.
