Irvine Awards $1 Million to Institute for Evidence-Based Change

The Institute for Evidence-Based Change has announced a $1 million grant from the James Irvine Foundation to continue its data support for Linked Learning school districts and to provide data to research/evaluation partners and other stakeholders in the Linked Learning field.

IEBC provides student academic progress and outcome data to school districts to help them drive program improvement and accurately report their work. The grant also will enable the organization to continue providing student data to research organizations that are exploring the impact of Linked Learning programs under agreement with local districts. Linked Learning integrates rigorous academics with career-based learning and real-world workplace experiences with the goal of transforming education into a personally relevant experience that better prepares students for college and career opportunities.

"We are excited to have this opportunity to continue to help districts use data better and to support evaluation work," said IEBC president and CEO Brad Phillips. "Using data well fuels continuous improvement, and there is high interest in this approach. We appreciate the support of the Irvine Foundation in selecting us to help educators grapple with, and understand, what data and other evidence can tell them about the impact of Linked Learning on student progress and outcomes."
