Irvine Foundation Awards $9.1 Million in Grants
The James Irvine Foundation has announced grants totaling $9.1 million in support of efforts to expand opportunities for the people of California.
Made through its California Democracy and Youth programs, the foundation awarded a grant of $900,000 to PICO California in support of voter outreach efforts and a grant of $825,000 to Code for Labs, Inc. in support of that organization's efforts to broaden engagement of underrepresented groups in public decision-making through Code for America Fellowships in three California cities.
The foundation also awarded $5 million to ConnectEd, the California Center for College and Career so that it can continue its support for the Linked Learning District Initiative and transition it from the demonstration phase to statewide implementation; $1.3 million to the Los Angeles Small Schools Center to strengthen and expand a regional Linked Learning system; and $1.1 million to the Foundation for California Community Colleges to improve high school-to-college transition rates in two California Linked Learning regions.
