The James Irvine Foundation has announced twenty grants totaling $14.3 million, including support for two initiatives focused on assisting low-income workers in California.

As part of its Better Careers initiative, the foundation awarded two grants totaling nearly $2.4 million, including a grant of $2 million over two years to Third Sector Capital Partners, which will partner with Better Careers grantees and public agencies to co-design improvements to California's public workforce funding system. The foundation also awarded three grants totaling $2.8 million through its Fair Work initiative, including a two-year, $850,000 grant to the Asian Americans Advancing Justice – Asian Law Caucus to advance support for the rights of immigrants and low-wage workers through education, training, and policy advocacy.

In addition, grants were awarded in the foundation's priority grantmaking areas of media, Priority Regions, and Protecting Immigrant Rights — including $400,000 to Community Initiatives in support of the California Campus Catalyst Fund and efforts to expand services to undocumented students and their families — as well as through sunsetting initiatives focused on Linked Learning and Voter and Civic Engagement. Other grants included $400,000 in general operating support over two years to the California Budget & Policy Center and $619,000 over twenty-one months to FSG in support of the Talent Rewire Innovation Lab's efforts to reduce employment, retention, and promotion barriers for low-wage workers.
