Kaiser Foundation Launches Global Health News Web Site

The Kaiser Family Foundation, with major support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, has announced the launch of a new Web site featuring the latest news and information about HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria worldwide.

The site, GlobalHealthReporting.org, is designed to help journalists, policy makers, and NGOs efficiently search the latest and most accurate global health news. The site features daily summaries of news from around the world; links to new reports and webcasts from key global health organizations; a calendar of upcoming local, regional, and international events related to HIV/AIDS, TB, malaria, and health journalism; and facts and data, such as current regional and global statistics on the three diseases.

Countries to be covered on a regular basis include Botswana, Brazil, China, Ghana, Haiti, India, the Russian Federation, Ukraine, South Africa, Sudan, Thailand, and Uganda, and the site will also offer tools specifically for journalists, including definitions of medical and epidemiological terminology, reporting manuals, information on journalist training and fellowship opportunities, and multi-media resources.
