The Kalamazoo Community Foundation in Michigan has announced grants totaling $1.3 million to forty-one nonprofit organizations in Kalamazoo County.

The foundation awarded grants in a number of focus areas, including health care, arts and culture, and housing. Grant recipients include AACORN Farm, in support of a skill-building program; Ecumenical Senior Center, to expand its services for Kalamazoo's most underserved senior citizens; Gryphon Place, in support of its Empowering Latina Leaders Advocates for Success program; and the WMU Homer Stryker School of Medicine, in support of an educational program that addresses health disparities in the LGBTQ+ population, with a focus on the transgender population.

"The programs funded this cycle are making an immediate and long-term impact on Kalamazoo County," said the foundation's vice president of community investment, Martha Gonzalez-Cortes. "We believe collaborative efforts focused on equity and education are moving our community toward being a place where every child and adult has the resources to reach full potential."
