Kenyon College receives $100 million gift from anonymous donor
Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio, has announced a $100 million gift from a donor who wishes to remain anonymous.
The largest gift in the school's history will fund construction of three apartment-style residence halls for juniors and seniors on South Campus; each hall will house more than a hundred students, and the buildings will meet LEED gold standards for sustainability, supporting the college's commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2040. Construction is scheduled to begin following the conclusion of the 2023 academic year after completion of work currently under way on the West Quad.
The college also announced that it had met the $300 million goal for its capital campaign, which will continue through June with a new goal of $500 million.
"With this gift we are doubling down on the residential experience that is at the heart of a Kenyon education," said the college's president, Sean Decatur, "the intrinsic value of which distancing and remote learning has only made more clear."
