Television producer Dick Wolf, founder of Wolf Entertainment and creator of the “Law & Order” franchise, will endow two galleries at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and donate more than 200 works to the museum’s Renaissance and Baroque art collections, the New York Times reports.

The exact dollar amount of the gift was not disclosed, but described as “tens of millions of dollars,” while the art works to be donated comprise paintings, sculptures, and drawings that include compositions by Botticelli, Orazio Gentileschi, and Artemisia Gentileschi, which Wolf bought at auction for $4.6 million, $4.4 million, and $2.1 million, respectively. The collection also includes a Van Gogh painting sold at auction in 2022 for $2.8 million. In recognition of the endowment gift, two galleries in the museum’s department of European sculpture and decorative arts will be named for Wolf.

“I’m sure most collectors would agree that seeing your art displayed in the world’s greatest museum is an honor,” Wolf said in a statement to the Times.

“The collection reflects Dick Wolf’s excellent connoisseurship and enduring dedication to the diverse artistic media of the periods,” Met CEO Max Hollein told the Times. “The substantial financial contribution will provide critical support for the Met’s collection displays and scholarly pursuits.”
