Lilly Endowment awards grants to address gun violence in Indianapolis
The Lilly Endowment has announced grants totaling $3 million in support of 13 Indianapolis organizations working to reduce gun violence in the city.
Grants ranging from $50,000 to $500,000 are designed to help community centers, workforce development organizations, and faith-based groups curb the number of gun violence incidents in the communities they serve over the next two years. Recipients include Brookside Community Development Corporation ($200,000), Community Action of Greater Indianapolis, Incorporated ($250,000), and Eclectic Soul VOICES Corporation ($200,000).
“Like other U.S. cities, Indianapolis in recent years has experienced a dramatic increase in incidents of gun violence,” said Lilly Endowment vice president for community development Ronni Kloth. “Many dedicated organizations are working to support individuals and communities directly affected by gun violence. We hope that these grants will assist their efforts to help ensure that Indianapolis is a safe city for all of its residents.”
