Yield Giving, the philanthropic organization established in 2022 by Giving Pledger MacKenzie Scott, has released its list of grants awarded in 2023, totaling $2.153 billion to 360 organizations.

The funding from Yield Giving—known to be unsolicited and often unrestricted—has been focused on issues related to affordable housing and access to health services, including recent awards to New York City-based Community Preservation Corporation ($15 million), the nation’s largest community development financial institution (CDFI) dedicated solely to multifamily housing, which will expand its financing for affordable and workforce housing; Peoples Community Health Clinic in Waterloo, Iowa ($4.2 million), which provides patient-centered health care and community health programming and will initially invest the funding to bolster the organization’s long-term financial stability; and Southside Community Health Services (SCHS) in Minneapolis, ($2.6 million), which will direct the funds toward development of One Southside, a community health center slated to break ground in 2024 on the site of a former Family Dollar stored destroyed in 2020 during the civil unrest following the murder of George Floyd.

“MacKenzie Scott’s investment will help us grow from serving 11,000 people per year to more than 18,000,” said SCHS executive director Ann Cazaban. “Locating these much-needed services under one roof will alleviate barriers for families and provide a trusted place where they can get the high-quality care they deserve.”
