Miami University receives $46 million bequest for Pell grant students
Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, has announced a $46 million bequest from alumnus John Metz (’57) and his husband, Ali Khan.
The largest individual gift in the university’s history is designated for scholarships for students who are eligible to receive Pell grants—those who are the most in need of financial assistance. Currently, about 2,000 students—11 percent of those enrolled at the university—are Pell grant recipients.
“Miami University is grateful to John and Ali for their extraordinary generosity,” said Miami University president Gregory Crawford. “This gift is especially transformative because it is designated to students with the greatest need. This means that more students will have access to a Miami education. This gift will impact the lives of students and their families for generations to come.”
