Naples Hospital for Special Surgery receives $27.5 million in gifts

The Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) at Naples Comprehensive Health (NCH) in Florida has announced gifts totaling $27.5 million toward construction of an orthopedic surgical hospital on the North Naples Hospital campus.

The funding includes a completed $20 million matching grant from local philanthropists Patty and Jay Baker and a $7.5 million award from the Kapnick Foundation in support of the Kapnick Foundation Ambulatory Surgical Center. In November 2023, the hospital broke ground on the Patty & Jay Baker Pavilion, a new 100,000-square-foot orthopedic surgical hospital. Scheduled to open in March 2025, the pavilion will offer comprehensive outpatient and inpatient musculoskeletal services.

Patty Baker serves on the HSS board and Jay Baker serves on the board of NCH. Scott Kapnick serves on the HSS board and has previously supported facilities expansion on the HSS main campus in New York City.

“We are thrilled to receive this generous commitment from the Kapnick Foundation to advance our goal of bringing the best in orthopedics—practices, surgeons and physicians, and patient experience—to people in southwest Florida,” said HSS president, CEO, and surgeon-in-chief emeritus Bryan T. Kelly. “The Baker Pavilion will be the first and only healthcare center of its kind, made possible through our collaboration with NCH and visionary support from philanthropy.”
