NASCAR Champion Gives $1 Million for Children's Hospital

NorthEast Medical Center in Concord, North Carolina, has announced a $1 million gift from NASCAR champion Jeff Gordon toward construction of a new children's hospital.

The $9.4 million facility, which will named in Gordon's honor, will contain a twenty-four-bed pediatric unit and a five-bed pediatric intensive care unit. In addition, the patient and treatment rooms will offer expanded services and support to patients and their families.

"The racing community in this region has done so much for me, and I wanted to do something in return," said Gordon, a four-time NASCAR Cup Series winner. "The NorthEast Medical Center is consistently rated in the top one hundred hospitals in the country and when I heard of their plans for a children's hospital, I wanted to lend my support to the project."
