Nevada Cancer Institute Receives $25 Million Challenge Grant

The Las Vegas-based Nevada Cancer Institute has announced a $25 million challenge grant from the Greenspun Family Foundation in Henderson, Nevada.

The grant, which must be matched by funding from other sources, will help the organization deliver on its effort to develop a comprehensive cancer research institute staffed by scientists, clinicians, and caregivers. The institute will provide education, support, and patient-centered care and will strive for a future without cancer through research in basic, clinical, and population science. The foundation announced an earlier $5 million grant to the institute in July.

"With this challenge grant, we hope to inspire others to invest in Nevada by providing financial support for this historic and worthwhile cause," said Brian Greenspun, president and editor of the Las Vegas Sun newspaper and director of the Greenspun Family Foundation. "We hope the new Nevada Cancer Institute facility can help find the treatments and cures for cancer while improving the health of our community members."
