New York Community Trust Awards $7.4 Million in Fourth Quarter

The New York Community Trust has announced grants totaling $7.4 million to fifty-one nonprofits working in the areas of the arts, civic affairs, community development, education, the environment, health and human services, legal assistance, and medical research.

Recipients include Jewish Home Lifecare, which was awarded $120,000 to expand a substance abuse program for elders in the Bronx; the City University of New York, which will receive $265,000 to help CUNY students secure paid internships; Enterprise Community Partners, which was awarded $100,000 to boost energy efficiency and water conservation in affordable housing complexes; and the Association of National Estuary Programs, which will receive $150,000 to strengthen the climate resilience of low-income waterfront communities in Staten Island, Alabama, and Puerto Rico.

The trust also awarded $585,000 to the National Association of Social Workers Foundation in support of a scholarship program for social work students focused on health care; $100,000 to the Regional Plan Association to develop a comprehensive plan for the tri-state region that includes housing, transportation, energy, and climate change; $100,000 to the New York City Employment and Training Coalition to help workforce development organizations in New York City involve employers in their programs; and $220,000 to the International Documentary Association in support of documentary filmmakers in the early stages of production on films that reflect the aims and concepts of filmmaker Pare Lorentz.
