The Niagara Health Foundation in St. Catharines, Ontario, has announced a C$60 million ($45.1 million) gift from Greg and Diane Slaight.

The largest gift in the foundation’s history will establish the Slaight Family Diagnostic Imaging Unit at the South Niagara Hospital, and the total will be divided into three parts: C$45 million ($33.8 million) to address priority patient care needs and the advancement and treatment of health needs at Niagara Health for Niagara’s 485,000 residents; C$10 million ($7.5 million) in support of the Walker Family Cancer Centre to help ensure that patients can receive cancer diagnosis and treatment close to home; and $5 million ($3.7 million) in support of construction of the South Niagara Hospital.

“There are no words to adequately express our gratitude for this unprecedented philanthropic donation that will change lives. This gift will positively impact patient care while enhancing the work environment for Niagara Health staff,” said Niagara Health president and CEO Lynn Guerriero. “It is a testament to the Slaight family’s commitment to the Niagara community.”
