Northwestern Mutual Foundation pledges $3.9 million for education
Northwestern Mutual has announced a $3.9 million pledge through its foundation in support of education in its home city of Milwaukee.
The pledge will bolster more than 50 Milwaukee-based schools and nonprofits, boosting the company’s total investment in education to more than $67 million over the last 30 years. As part of the latest commitment, 25 initiatives led by more than 50 teachers were awarded Summer Teacher Project Grants, which are designed to engage and retain talent by providing educators with stipends during summer months in recognition of their contributions to their classrooms and assist them in assuring student success throughout the school year.
In addition, the company will direct more than $1.9 million to schools and nonprofit programs for early childhood and K-12 education.
“Great teachers are fundamental to student success,” said Northwestern Mutual Foundation president Steve Radke. “We are excited to offer these grants to educators that share Northwestern Mutual’s commitment in wanting to ensure successful outcomes for Milwaukee students.”
