Otto Bremer Trust Awards $10 Million in Grants

The Otto Bremer Trust in St. Paul has announced a hundred and thirty-six grants totaling more than $10 million to nonprofits in Minnesota, North Dakota, and Wisconsin.

Grants awarded to organizations in Minnesota include $65,000 to Family Pathways in North Branch for supportive services and emergency shelter for victims of domestic violence in rural Minnesota; $25,000 to Loaves and Fishes Too to provide nutritious meals to low-income residents in Marshall, Minnesota; $70,000 to the Minneapolis-based American Indian OIC in support of the Takoda Institute, which helps low-income adults move from poverty to employment through sector-specific vocational training and complementary career services; and $50,000 to the Lift Garage to provide car repairs at below-market rates for low-income residents in the Twin Cities area.

Grants to organizations in North Dakota include $50,000 to ARC of Bismarck to provide leadership and advocacy training to adults with disabilities and parents of children with disabilities; $50,000 to the Children's Advocacy Centers of North Dakota to provide program services and support to local children's advocacy centers in the state; $75,000 to the McLean Family Resource Center in Washburn toward construction of a new building; and $60,000 to the Grand Forks Foundation for Education in support of its efforts to boost literacy in the Grand Forks community by providing library books to children.

Recipients of grants awarded to organizations in Wisconsin include the AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, which was awarded $100,000 to support prevention outreach, health care, and social services programs for HIV-positive individuals in the western part of the state; Arc of Dunn County, which will receive $41,000 to provide services to adults with intellectual disabilities; the L.E. Phillips Career Development Center, which was awarded $25,000 to provide basic services to people who are homeless and, through with intensive case management, to connect them to community resources; and Turningpoint for Victims of Domestic and Sexual Violence in River Falls, which will receive $50,000 to provide services to victims of domestic and sexual violence.
