Otto Bremer Trust Awards $6.5 Million in Grants
The Otto Bremer Trust in St. Paul has announced grants totaling more than $6.5 million to nonprofits in Minnesota, North Dakota, and Wisconsin.
Grants awarded to organizations in North Dakota include $100,000 to the Abused Adult Resource Center to provide services and shelter for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault; $40,000 to the Minot Area Men's Winter Refuge to provide temporary shelter and support to homeless men; and $200,000 to the Community Violence Intervention Center to support programming in the areas of domestic violence, sexual assault, and community intervention.
Grants to organizations in Wisconsin include $100,000 to ABC for Rural Health to provide support for healthcare consumers by helping families obtain, keep, and use public and private healthcare coverage; $65,000 to Literacy Volunteers — Chippewa Valley to provide literacy programming in underserved communities in the western region of the state; and $50,000 to Anu Family Services to expand parent coaching programs in western Wisconsin.
Recipients of grants in Minnesota include St. Charles Fire and Rescue, which was awarded $75,000 to purchase equipment critical to the safety of its volunteer-based firefighting and rescue unit; Children's Home Society of Minnesota, which received $50,000 to help youth and children living in foster care achieve stability through adoption and other permanency options; and the Philanthrofund Foundation, which was awarded $50,000 in support of an initiative aimed at developing a new standard for inclusion of the LGBT community within the field of philanthropy.
