PCLB Foundation receives 50 percent of Subway chain ownership
The Peter and Carmen Lucia Buck Foundation (PCLB) has announced that it has received a bequest from the late Peter Buck of his 50 percent ownership of the Subway restaurant chain.
PCLB plans to continue its current philanthropic programs. Buck was co-founder of the Subway chain and offered the initial $1,000 investment to form the business in 1965. Buck and his wife, the late Carmen Lucia Buck, established PCLB as a private family foundation to manage their family’s philanthropic initiatives, and it has been making grants since 1999. In addition to grants, PCLB provides strategic guidance, professional connections, capacity building, and other forms of assistance.
“This gift will allow the foundation to greatly expand its philanthropic endeavors and impact many more lives, especially our work to create educational opportunities for all students, work Dr. Buck cared so deeply about,” said PCLB executive director Carrie Schindele.
