PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center Foundation receives $10 million
The PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center Foundation in Vancouver, Washington, has announced a $10 million pledge from David and Patricia Nierenberg to expand its emergency department.
The gift doubles an initial pledge from the couple in 2021 to the $60 million Healthcare Reimagined Campaign, bringing their total commitment to the campaign to $20 million. To date, the campaign has raised more than $54 million in support of efforts to expand and modernize the emergency department, including adding a 24-bed observation unit and establishing a community health hub, which will enable community partners to address the non-medical needs of emergency department patients.
Longtime supporters of PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, the Nierenbergs have previously helped fund the Holtzman Twins NICU and the Patricia Nierenberg Child Care Center.
“Our community has faced significant challenges over the past few years, from the COVID-19 pandemic to economic uncertainties,” said David Nierenberg. “PeaceHealth Southwest has remained steadfast in providing exceptional care to those in our community through it all—dating back to the Civil War—thanks in large part to the sense of community ownership and shared responsibility to make health care accessible to all.”
